The power of bleach, PVC and window cleaning

We've had a recent experience of cleaning mould and general dirt and grime from PVC windows, the windows weren't in the best of conditions but as always Clean Smart Solutions persevered and headed over to Bedford to give it a shot for one of our property management companies that we complete work for.

We were greeted with this:

Lots of mould and really old dirt sitting in the runners, years of neglect and not a nice sight for the new tenants of this property. To begin with we made a mixture of bleach and water in a spray bottle, this helps to remove and kill the mould that is present, we used a small brush to work the mixture into the soilings and left to dwell.

The next step was to use a cream cleaner to clean up the PVC and remove any scuffs etc that were present and to clean the glass to a nice shine. and Voila! years of dirt gone and made the property look one hundred times better. The sun shines again!

The important things to remember when competing this kind of task are:

  • Bleach is extremely acidic, please wear gloves and ensure that you do not spray on to painted surfaces or fabric.

  • Do not use abrasive pads/scourers on PVC it will make the frames look extremely flat and can cause damage you won't know about until you have finished! Brushes and cloths are perfect for the job with a little bit of elbow grease.
